McDonald's has faced a barrage of backlash from angry social media users after it's April Fool's Day prank backfired.
The fast food giant took to its official Instagram and Facebook accounts on Monday to announce it would be launching a McPickle Burger in Australia.
The newly-created offering was supposed to be filled with plenty of pickles, lined between layers of melted cheese, and packed into a sesame seed bun.

Alongside a short video showcasing the burger, the fast food chain added a caption described the ingredients of the pickle-filled concoction.
'Pickle lovers, it's the news you've all been waiting for,' it read.

'We're super stoked to announce the launch of our brand new McPickle Burger.
'It's time to tuck into juicy, flavoursome pickles layered between melted cheese, ketchup sauce and toasted sesame seed buns. It's sure to be a treat for all your senses,' it concluded.

But unfortunately for pickle lovers the McPickle burger was only created for an April Fool's Day prank.
While some social media users cottoned onto the April Fool's Day prank straight away, others were outraged the burger wasn't actually available to buy.
'If only it wasn't April Fools,' one person wrote.
'Don't play with me McDonalds... make this happen,' a second implored.
'Omfg if this is April Fools' joke [I'm going to] be mad,' another added.

But others couldn't stomach the idea of a burger filled with pickles.
'Even though it's an [April Fools], this is still disgusting to even think about,' said one.
A second disgusted user wrote: 'Just vomited at the [sight] of it'.
Another person offered some advice on how someone could create their own McPickle burger.
'If you really, really want one just buy a cheeseburger and ask for a billion extra pickles,' they commented.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted McDonald's for comment.
